POSITION: Clerical Assistant to Staff (Reasonable Accommodation Clerk)
HOURS: AS NEEDED ON CALL
SUPERVISOR: Human Resources Administrator
LOCATION: Berkeley & Oakland
This will be an open Pool and applications will be accepted continuously.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide assistance to several staff members with a variety of disabilities to enable them to perform the essential functions of their jobs.
Reader Responsibilities
- Read printed, electronic and or taped materials to staff
- Write and/or type verbatim oral dictation
- Act as sighted guide
Clerical Responsibilities:
- Perform data entry functions using database related software
- Organize and maintain office files and general supplies
- Administrative support i.e., filing, word processing, copying, note-taking and media duplication.
Essential Functions:
- Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality standards across departments
- Ability to assist several staff members on a daily basis using a flexible schedule
- Basic computer proficiency
Education and Experience:
- At least six months experience working with people with disabilities
- High School/GED. Some college preferred
Qualifications:
- Proficient at typing/word processing
- Proven ability to multi-task
- Neat handwriting, accurate spelling, attention to detail and the ability to organize written materials
- Experience with standard office equipment and procedures
Physical Demands:
- Sitting for long periods of time
- Typing on various keyboards and other office machines for long periods of time
