POSITION: Accountant
LOCATION: Berkeley (Ed Roberts Campus)
HOURS: Full-Time – 37.5 hours per week
SALARY: $50,000/yr
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
SUPERVISOR: Finance Manager
START DATE: TBD

SUMMARY: Responsible for the general ledger activity, payroll, contract invoicing and reporting, and cash management functions

Essential Functions:

Cash Management & Banking Functions

Prepare, code, and make bank deposits
Update Invoice log
Enter Cash Receipts Journal in FastFund
Enter Donations to FastFund Raising.
Reconcile FastFund Cash Receipts Journal
Monitor several bank balances and determine disbursement amounts
Monitor and maintain Receivables Invoice Log

Payroll Functions

Prepare, distribute, collect and review time sheets bi monthly
Update and maintain Employee Time Off reports
Prepare , input and review ADP payroll twice monthly
Calculate and set up Special Pays
Maintain payroll allocation spreadsheet
Prepare semi-monthly Payroll allocation by funding source
Prepare check requests for payroll related disbursements.

General Ledger Functions

Prepare common costs allocations monthly by funding source
Perform general ledger activities through Trial Balance
Reconcile prepaid, receivable, and accrued expenses accounts
Prepare and maintain monthly General Journal entries to FastFund

Billing Functions

Prepare monthly billing worksheets for contract billings
Prepare /complete monthly billings for all billable contracts
Maintain Invoice Log
Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

BS degree in Accounting or a comparable combination of formal education and work experience;
Experience in nonprofit accounting for a multi-funded mid-size organization;
Experience with computerized general ledger accounting software, outsize payroll service processing, and spreadsheet applications;
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other software programs
