Housing Services
CIL provides individualized peer counseling services for consumers with disabilities that are considered Urgent/At Risk and in need of housing services. The goal of this program is to enhance the quality of life for low and moderate-income residents of Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, and surrounding areas via housing related services to prevent homelessness and to promote self sufficiency. As well as to provide tenant landlord counseling and education services to low income district residents with disabilities in order to enhance knowledge of rights and to mitigate potential homelessness. Also, to educate landlords on responsibilities as they pertain to providing housing to disabled District residents.
Where appropriate, CIL collaborates with outside agencies to provide links to medical and psychiatric care, social work, on-going education and other needs as assessed and described in the goal setting during the creation of an independent Living Plan.
