As of February 22, 2012 there are two open positions at CIL in our new Peer Mentor Provider Program:

Peer Mentor Program Outreach Provider (Two part-time positions) - posted 02/22/2012

Peer Mentor Program Introduction/Overview

The Center for Independent Living, headquartered at the Ed Roberts Campus in Berkeley, California, is launching a leading edge peer-based program for transition age youth with physical disabilities (typically, aged 15-26).

It is well known that these years are critical in the formation of independent lives for people with disabilities, and this program seeks to provide positive impact by matching college age youth who are successfully transitioning to full community participation with high school youth with physical disabilities.

The new CIL Program will outreach broadly to the Alameda County population of transition age youth.   The program will identify and enroll mentors and mentees from the target age group and will provide a unique, inspirational and educational program of both group and one-on-one activities for the program participants.

CIL is seeking one or more individuals to implement and coordinate this program, reporting to a CIL Program Manager. The incumbent(s) will deliver services across Alameda County.  While CIL has listed two distinct positions, we are open to combing the positions into one 30 hour per week position for the right individual.

This is an exceptional opportunity for those with the ability to deeply relate to the physically disabled transition age youth experience and to create a leading edge program of peer-based support at a critical life juncture.  As an organization staffed predominantly by people with disabilities of all types, ages and backgrounds, we embrace diversity in our employees and actively seek to broaden diversity in our workforce.
